Description: Lia and Tina are two beautiful girls who meet and realize that they have a lot in common. They are both young, beautiful and pissed off, so they decide to hitchhike their way to Rome to find Nazariota’s commune, a place to stay for free and have all the sex they want… or so they think. Things don’t go as they have planned though, and soon they become involved in prostitution, the police and an aggressive gang.
Review of Being Twenty movie: Two girls, young beautiful and, as they put it “hot and really pissed off”, though the source of their anger is never quite clear, They fetch up in Rome having hitchhiked from…well, that’s isn’t revealed.. They flaunt their bodies and tease men, and sometimes women, too. They make love with whoever they want including each other, and hustle money selling encyclopaedias. All this is played out in a noisy and comic vein peculiar to Italian cinema, meaning that’s it’s not for everyone. You increasingly get the feeling that despite the light tone, this isn’t going to end well. These girls are going to get their come-uppance.
It’s an extremely well made film, with excellent photography and comprehensible sub-titles. The girls played by Lilli Catari and Gloria Guida (a big star in Italian sex comedies of this period) are well worth watching and really are hot. Especially the blonde Guida in her skimpy outfits and sometimes a lot less. The denouement is very dark indeed, though it enables you to see the girls in a new light. Not exactly as feminists, but more sympathetic libertines paying a high price for their hedonistic antics.
